1. Portrait Pals as a Marketplace

Portrait Pals provides a venue for buyers to discover and purchase illustrations from artists in the UK and around the world. It is important to note that Portrait Pals is not a part of that transaction. By shopping on Portrait Pals, you understand that:

  1. You are not buying directly from Portrait Pals but from one of the talented illustrators featured on its marketplace;

  2. Each illustrator on Portrait Pals has their own processing times.

2. Buying on Portrait Pals


When you buy on Portrait Pals, you are directly supporting independent illustrators, each with their unique style and processing time. By ordering a portrait from an illustrator on Portrait Pals, you agree that you have:

  1. Read the description and seen sample pictures of the illustrator’s style before making a purchase;

  2. Understood that The Product you purchase will not be an exact replica of the photograph you provided but an interpretation done in the illustrator’s style;

  3. Submitted appropriate payment and uploaded a photo of your choice for each item purchased; and

  4. Provided accurate shipping information to the seller.


3. Your Content

When you buy on Portrait Pals, you will be asked to upload a photo of your pet. We refer to this as “Your Content”, and the below paragraphs explain the rules in relation to it.


  1. Responsibility for Your Content. You understand that you are solely responsible for Your Content. By agreeing this policy, you certify that have all necessary rights to Your Content and that you’re not infringing or violating any third party’s rights by sharing it.

  2. Permission to Use Your Content. We don’t claim any ownership to Your Content, but by uploading it to this service, you grant Portrait Pals permission to use it for personal and promotional purposes. This may include having The Product and Your Content shown on the Portrait Pals social media channels, or on the personal website of the individual artist.

  3. Rights You Grant Portrait Pals and its Illustrators (the Legal version of the last section). By sharing Your Content, you grant Portrait Pals a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sub-licensable, perpetual license to use, display, edit, modify, reproduce, distribute, store, and prepare derivative works of Your Content. This allows us to provide the Services and to promote Portrait Pals, its Illustrators, or the Services in general, in any formats and through any channels, including across any Services, our partners, or third-party website or advertising medium. You agree not to assert any moral rights or rights of publicity against us for using Your Content. You also recognise our legitimate interest in using it, in accordance with the scope of this license, to the extent Your Content contains any personal information.

  4. Opting out of Promotion of Your Content. Should you wish not to have Your Content or The Product shown on the Portrait Pals or individual artist’s website or social media channels, please email us at portraitpalsUK@gmail.com.


4. Our Content

The use of Portrait Pals products or any derivative works based on such products for commercial purposes is prohibited.

5. Bespoke Products Modifications and Refund

We offer refund within 24 hours of placing an order, which you can get by emailing us at portraitpalsUK@gmail.com. We do not offer refunds after that period. 

Portraits are carefully packed so they cannot be bent while in transit. They are sandwiched between two sheets of heavy cardboard, then secured at the edges with tape, and popped in a very stiff cardboard envelope. In the unlikely event your portrait arrives damaged, please follow the process below.

  1. Email photos of the damage to portraitpalsUK@gmail.com within 3 days of delivery and tell us whether you want a refund or a new artwork;

  2. We will liaise with the artist and confirm back to you that your claim has been taken into account.

  3. Once you receive our confirmation, you will need to return the item/s within 7 days to the address we will give you. It is important to return your order by a tracked service as we cannot be held responsible for any items lost in transit.

  4. We will then proceed to the refund, or the artist will create a new artwork and will send to you as soon as possible.
